Description

Risoul is a commune in the French department of Hautes-Alpes (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region), with a population of 622 (1999). The town is part of the arrondissement of Briançon.

Risoul was once arrival point of a stage of the Tour de France cycling race. Pole Rafał Majka won the day’s prize there in 2014. In 2016, Risoul was arrival point in the Tour of Italy. The stage was won by Italian and later overall winner Vincenzo Nibali. Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk lost the pink leader’s jersey to Colombian Esteban Chaves during that stage to Risoul.Wikipedia
