Forcola di Livigno – Livigno
Description
The Forcola di Livigno or Livigno Pass is a 2315-meter-high mountain pass on the border of Italy and Switzerland, linking Valle di Poschiavo in the canton of Graubünden with tax-free Livigno belonging to the Italian province of Sondrio.
From Switzerland, the road branches off northward 3 kilometers before the summit of the Bernina Pass. Almost immediately follows the Swiss border post. About four kilometers further on the pass height is the Italian customs post. The Forcola di Livigno is situated between Piz Minor (3049 m) to the north and Monte Vago (3067 m) to the south.
From October to May, the pass road is closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall in the area. An alternative then is the Munt-la-Schera tunnel north of the pass and the Foscagno Pass leading from Livigno to Bormio. Source Wikipedia
